About Jessalyn

I’m a detail-oriented creative thinker who thrives on supporting people, programs, and organizations dedicated to making a positive difference in the world. Over the past 12 years, I’ve helped nonprofits focused on literacy, political advocacy, and international development to grow by matching the right story of their work to the right audience of supporters at the right time. I’ve secured single- and multi-year grants of up to $300,000, managed multi-million dollar grant portfolios, and raised $1M+ in annual direct marketing revenue.

I love talking with people about what lights them up, and that—along with copious amounts of subject and industry research—is my starting point for helping you find the most effective way to tell your program’s or organization’s story. By partnering with staff and leadership at all levels, I’ll help you outline your funding and impact goals and the metrics by which to measure them, then distill it all down into a cohesive and compelling narrative. This approach has enabled me to write proposals that have been funded by Google.org, The Norcliffe Foundation, the M.J. Murdock Charitable Trust, and more.

Fun facts about Jessalyn:

  • I’ve lived in nine cities on three continents and love to travel. Swimming with wild dolphins in New Zealand and learning to scuba dive in Thailand are among my favorite experiences so far.
  • After protesting for years that I could never do yoga, I actually tried it in 2012 and have been practicing ever since. I got my RYT 200 certification in 2018 and now teach at several Seattle-area studios.
  • I’m fluent in French and volunteer as a French-to-English translator of microfinance loans for Kiva.
