Meet The Team

Director of Community Engagement

Ariel Glassman

About Ariel

I have lived and breathed fundraising and nonprofit management for the past 15 years. I have helped organizations in the arts, education, social justice, youth leadership, and global health sculpt innovative fundraising programs, strengthen their internal capacity, connect deeply with their donors, and propel their work to new heights.

I combine deep strength in organizational analytics with broad operational fundraising chops and a knack for customizing fundraising strategy. I infuse my projects with a culture of teaching and learning, and focus on growing your ability to fundraise after our partnership ends.

I can perform a top-to-bottom assessment of your development efforts and recommend the right investments. I can also apply my energies to specific projects or areas of growth – for example, I can help you define a new major gifts strategy, crowdfund new programs, whip your direct mail and online fundraising into shape, and help you create and share the stories that will make your fundraising communications shine. I can recalibrate and rehire a turnover-fraught development position or department, and coach your staff to greater results.

Fun facts about Ariel :

  • I love to lift weights, and my best power lift is definitely the deadlift.
  • I’ve written speeches for three former mayors of Seattle.
  • Fundraising runs in my family - my sister is a talented major and planned giving expert on the east coast.

Ariel dove into her work with vigor, enthusiasm, and a genuine passion to see the organization succeed in all areas, not just fundraising. She is savvy, strategic, and knows all the ins and outs of fundraising intimately. She helped us develop a giving strategy, plan a major gala, and hire a new Director of Development. Ariel knows what needs to get done and makes it happen.

Ariel brought an astounding level of knowledge and enthusiasm to the Development Department. In particular, her ability to comprehensively assess our list of current and potential funders and uncover ways in which we could improve our approach and follow-through with each of them reinvigorated our funding requests. That she was able to accomplish this while injecting such positive energy into our team made our experience with Ostara joyous as well as successful.
