About Alaina

For the past seven years, I have honed my expertise in grants, operations, finance, and research at several nonprofit and philanthropic organizations in Washington state. My experience has taught me that both grant-making and grant-seeking are complex processes, subject to constant change but ultimately driven by people. I love working with organizations who value those people and think critically about their long-term programmatic impact. Each grant proposal I work on is an opportunity to dive deeply into the complexities my clients face each day and find a compelling story. My role at the Ostara Group is to carefully listen to my client’s needs and deliver thoughtful grant research, writing, portfolio management, and strategy.

Fun facts about Alaina:

  • The outdoors are my favorite places to be: you’ll find me mountaineering, rock climbing, skiing, kayaking, hiking and backpacking on weekends – rain or shine.
  • I’m an amateur artist: I sing mezzo-soprano, play the piano, and write poetry and short stories. I’ve also acted onstage and performed musical theater.
  • During the Arab Spring Revolutions, I studied abroad for a year in Meknes, Morocco to learn about US-Arab Relations and the Arabic language.
