Mitra Karami (she/her)

I've spent the last seven years working with nonprofits in the social and human services sector as a frontline fundraiser. I particularly enjoy working with organizations to marry their vision with strategy in order to tell their stories effectively. Partnering to broaden an organization's vision for what is possible, helping to find alignment on realistic, actionable plans for accomplishing their goals, and identifying and establishing vital systems and processes to improve efficiency are areas where I do my best work.

Prior to joining the Ostara Group, I worked as the Director of Individual Giving at Food Lifeline where I was responsible for a broad range of fundraising, messaging and strategic initiatives. During my time there, I developed successful mid-level, annual giving, direct mail, and events programs and implemented multi-year fundraising strategies. I haveĀ hands-on experience in database and project management, major gifts, annual campaigns, planned giving, board development, and strategic and organizational planning. I am a champion for diversity, equity and inclusion work and am passionate about uplifting and empowering the voices of the community.

Born and raised in the Pacific Northwest, I moved to Colorado to attend the University of Colorado at Boulder where I majored in International Affairs and Economics. After graduating, I started my career in Washington, D.C. where I worked for the National Iranian American Council and the National Democratic Institute.
